An Affiliate of NAMI : The National Alliance For The Mentally Ill Guest Speaker February 2007 Renata Halter-Riley NAMI-Savannah was pleased to have Renata Halter-Riley from Goodwill Industries of Savannah as guest speaker for our February NAMI meeting. Renata brings 25 years of experience working with the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, Department of Mental Health and Division of Employment and Training. She was recognized with an award from Elli Lilli for her dedication to helping the mentally ill find employment and return to a productive normal lifestyle. At Goodwill Industries she will implement a customized employment program. She believes you must get to know a person very well, their strengths and weaknesses, not as a patient but as an equal. Support must be continuing, not short term. She believes that work serves a critical role in the recovery process for those with mental illness. She believes that employment and career development must be included as part of every treatment plan. NAMI welcomes her to Savannah.
